#PoetryLovers: It’s Christmas Time

Wishing all readers, writers and followers a great Christmas and a fabulous New Year!

It’s Christmas Time

I don’t know about you,

But Christmas crept up on me this year,

It was months away one minute and now it’s here,

Big smiles all round as children tear the wrapping paper away,

And parents spend the day frantic over how to make dinner perfect,

The city falls silent as transport takes a break,

And someone breaks the silence when prayer around the table takes place,

It’s the time of year to be thankful for your blessings,

After learning many lessons it’s time to plan a course of action to avoid unsatisfaction in the year to come,

Big or small changes they all count the same,

Yet remain who you are and don’t make that change be in vain,

It’s Christmas time and I’m still breathing life,

Cherish the people around you,

Whether son, daughter or wife,

Because some will have a daunting Christmas day,

Those with no where to stay,

Children with no where to play,

And war torn countries that most likely dread this blessed day,

It’s Christmas time so let your heart shine with love before the moments gone,

And it’s reality time again.
