#PoetryLovers: 2014

2014

What a year it’s been,

America’s still killing black teens and war continues by all means,

A plane went missing in thin air and no one seems to care,

Families are still out there looking for answers authorities cannot provide,

New stars have emerged in the spotlight,

Yet the fight for racial equality in Ferguson is what has owned the limelight,

Jamaica has made a breakthrough in swimming but poverty is winning on the island,

It’s been a year filled with fortunes and failures,

Learning new procedures in order to proceed,

Making crucial changes to ensure I succeed in 2015,

Tragedy and triumph make up the this year coming to end,

With some things happening none of us could have dreamed of,

God bless Bianchi and Hughes injured in what you would call their line of duty,

But it was a beauty when Hamilton brought that trophy home,

It just goes to show that a low year for you may be high for another,

And I’ll pray for others year after year,

With the hopes that they hear and say strong,

Believe it or not,

But nothing can stay bad for too long.
